Real Kids Real Food Age 3-6 Club 2021 Counselor

Hello, my name is Saffi. I am a senior at Brandeis University studying biology and interdisciplinary health with the hopes of someday becoming a primary care physician and advocate for women’s health. It is my hope that by educating, advising and treating my patients in a way that involves nutrition and lifestyle adjustments, I can help them gain some control over their own wellness. In my free time I love to cook, eat, garden, dance and make things with my hands like knitting or drawing. I also play the violin and cello, and love music almost as much as I love food! At school, I have enjoyed getting involved with clubs, hanging out with friends, and going on long bike rides around town and along the Charles River when the weather is nice. I am so excited to meet you all and learn about food together!

Testimonial:

I learned so much from my internship with Real Kids Real Food and especially loved building relationships with the intern team and getting to know the kids! I have gained many skills including clear communication, problem solving, and technology dexterity (like accounting, running zoom rooms, editing and posting videos, and much more).
On a personal level, I learned so much about healthy living form the Eat to Thrive class, hearing from the multitude of fascinating guest lecturers, discussing personal journeys with classmates, and getting more in touch with myself so I can respond to what my body needs to stay healthy and happy. I learned just as much if not more form teaching the Real Kids Real Food class because children have a way of being unapologetically honest and genuine, inspiring me to be more excited by the little things like a tasty homemade meal or a zoom dance party.
Finally, I learned that healthy living is all about showing up for yourself in whatever way you need in the moment. This can be eating a nourishing meal when you’re hungry, taking a nap in the middle of a stressful week, or sitting in the sunshine for a few minutes to charge the heart. Healthy living is a journey, not a destination!
