Real Kids Real Food 2021 Marketing Intern

Hi, my name is Meredith! I will be assisting in fundraising activities and maintain the social media pages for Eat To Thrive and Real Kids Real Food. I believe that my love of lifting weights, unprocessed foods, and public health will help to advance our program goals because I am able to maintain a unique perspective on the importance of nutrition in preventive medicine and overall wellbeing as a whole. While my passion lies within the gym, I also enjoy spending time at the beach, walking my Golden Retrievers, and catching up with friends. I am currently a senior at Boston University studying Health Science and I plan to enroll in medical school to pursue a career in clinical medicine in the future. I am extremely excited to work with everyone involved in our programs!

Testimonial:

During the spring semester of 2021, I had the wonderful opportunity to intern for Real Kids Real Food and Eat to Thrive. Throughout this experience, I worked collaboratively with many positive and bright individuals under the supervision of Betsy Bragg. My internship duties revolved around completing administrative tasks, marketing, fundraising, and social media.

In regards to completing administrative tasks, I was responsible for drafting multiple cover letters, proposals, and emails. I gained invaluable experience in professional writing and effective communication in doing so. Betsy provided me with helpful advice to improve my writing style on many occasions, especially pertaining to a clear and concise exchange of
information.

Similarly, myself and another intern worked closely alongside Betsy to formulate and execute a fundraising campaign. This campaign worked to fund the delivery and provision of recipe supplies and educational materials to food-insecure children. This task entailed speaking with multiple organizations and professional individuals, and supplied me with the opportunity to practice adhering to tight deadlines and exercise flexibility within my schedule. The rapidly moving environment enabled me to think quickly, and I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge!

I am extremely thankful for the skills and knowledge that I have attained through my participation in this internship, and as a result, I highly recommend working for Eat to Thrive and Real Kids Real Food as an intern. Betsy has an enormous heart, and it shows through her time and effort in guiding us to help reach the goals of her organization. Additionally, the education I have received through Betsy and the materials provided have greatly improved my understanding of holistic medicine and the value of nutrition. These lessons are something that I will carry with me as I progress into my intended career of medicine.
